Viral marketing is a method of marketing that encourages consumers to share information about a company’s goods or services via the internet. This is still a relatively new tactic considering the internet has not been around for very long. The idea is that users will pass on the message and create an exponential growth in the messages visibility and effect. This technique is very smart in the 21st century because our lives surround the internet and everything it brings us. Especially for our generation, viral marketing is the best way to increase the visibility of products because of smartphones. On our social media platforms, ads are now a popular thing to see and most of the time it is about something you either looked up or is related to your interests. Another way viral marketing has become a part of our everyday lives is by ambassadors for companies that are internet based. They will pay someone to post about their products on the internet and offer a coupon code to entice people to buy their product or services. Viral marketing has grown substantially in the past couple years and is taking over businesses who offer physical locations for their consumers. I feel that more into the future the entire marketing basis will be online with very few physical forms of marketing strategies anymore.
